Cold process soap is made by combing a mixture of oils and butters with lye (sodium hydroxide) to create a chemical reaction (saponification). This results in a soap that then gets poured into molds to harden. Once de-molded (usually after 1-2 days), it is cut into bars and cured for 4-6 weeks to achieve optimal hardness and balance.
Natural colourants and essential oils can vary in strength and hue. Hand-pouring and gel phases may create swirls, soda ash, or colour differences. This is normal and part of handcrafted soap’s uniqueness.
